Bank of Maldives (BML) has once again stressed its customers to remain vigilant owing to new wave of scam calls. The bank has advised its customers against sharing sensitive information with individuals calling under various pretexts. BML stressed out its policies regarding contacting individual customers. According to BML, the bank will not contact its customers requesting sensitive information related to personal banking accounts. Public Relations Manager of the bank, Mohamed Saeed had warned against the scam calls. He had noted on several customers losing significant amounts from their savings. Horizon Fisheries, popular for its “Maandhoo Mas” canned products, launches two new products. The fisheries company introduced “Zero Chili” non-spicy ‘mas huni’ (a Maldivian variant of fish sambal) and the “Extra Spicy” variant. “Mas huni” made usually with grated coconut mixed with cooked and seared fish, is a local delicacy popular among the Maldivians and recently among foreign travelers. Solar power streetlights have been installed in Sh. Maaungoodhoo through the Community Fund initiative of Bank of Maldives (BML). The project was implemented by the local NGO; Society for Maaungoodhoo Youth Linkage. Under the project, a total of 25 streetlights powered by solar energy, were installed along the main roads of the island. After registering significant decline in business activities in the tourism sector during second quarter 2022, activities are expected to bump up amid third quarter. According to Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), the seasonally unadjusted indices for both total revenue and resort bookings turned negative and fell to -100 and -92 respectively during the review quarter. Total revenue index fell sharply by 200 points owing decline in business activities. Resort bookings index dipped 183 points during review quarter.
