The Government of Maldives signed an agreement with Kazakhstan towards commencing aviation operations between the two countries. Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Ms. Aishath Nahula signed on behalf of the Maldivian government. Under the agreement, scheduled flight operations are expected to commence. The agreement further allows code-sharing among permitted airlines. Earlier on 9th May 2022, the two countries signed an agreement pertaining to on arrival visa. Island Aviation reports it expects arrival of the Maldivian flagship carrier’s latest fleet additions in November 2022. The airline, Maldivian, purchased the planes for fleet expansion, earlier this year. The national carrier is dropping its older Dash-6 otters in favor of ATR contemporaries. Meanwhile, a photo of a Maldivian ATR-72 at Toulouse-Blenjek Airport in France was circulated on social media on Saturday, 01st October. The latest update from Ministry of Finance corroborates state’s expenditure has hit MVR26.5 billion as of 27th September. According to the ministry, revenues earned by the same period stood at MVR19.6 billion. Due to higher spending compared to earnings, the overall balance for the period is a deficit of MVR6.9 billion; which stretched out from the previous review date.
