    Tourist arrivals close to 60k already

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives close to hitting 60k, up by 14.0%

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives reached 59,071 by 11th January 2023, reports the Ministry of Tourism.

    The arrival count so far this year is 14.0% up from the same period in 2022. The Maldives recorded 51,816 arrivals for the same period in 2022 and 33,544 in 2021.

    The daily arrival average is currently at 5,370 and the average duration of stay is now 8.1 days.

    The country has 1,211 registered tourist properties; which is 60,504 beds. The operational total is 1,207; which is 59,608 beds.

    • Resorts: 172 (41,945 beds) – registered | 168 (41,049 beds) – operational
    • Hotels: 13 (1,640 beds) – registered and operational
    • Guesthouses: 869 (14,018 beds) – registered and operational
    • Safari Vessels: 157 (2,901 beds) – registered and operational

    Share of Beds by Tourist Facility Types

    • Resorts: 69%
    • Guesthouses: 23%
    • Safari Vessels: 5%
    • Hotels: 3%

    A total of 21 countries are directly connected to the Maldives, and carries travelers regularly.
