Ooredoo Maldives announces a special cashback offer specific for their Club Premier members. Customers of the exclusive club, who make payments via m-Faisaa will receive the cashback offer, confirms Ooredoo. According to the telecom and internet service provider, customers making utility payments and shopping via m-Faisaa will receive the cashback to their m-Faisaa wallets. Cumulative total of state expenditure reaches MVR24.0 billion by 25th August 2022, reports Ministry of Finance. The authority further confirms state’s cumulative revenue reached MVR18.2 billion, inclusive of foreign grants. State has spent 73% of its budgetary total on recurrent expenses. The remaining 27% has been concentrated on capital expenses. On the other hand, state has earned 73% of its revenue through tax sources. The remaining 27% came through non-tax sources. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) confirms commencing Raajje-Transport Link (RTL) services in Shaviyani atoll, on 30th August 2022. With this introduction of RTL services, the atoll will be connecting with northernmost atolls of Haa Alif and Haa Dhaal. Shaviyani is the third atoll under phase 1 of the services. MTCC previously launched services in Haa Dhaal first, and Haa Alif after. In Shaviyani atoll, the RTL services will operate on 7 distinct routes with four ferries each with a capacity of 50 passengers. Jalboot Marine Services Pvt Ltd hosts the inauguration of their latest internship program, on 30th August 2022 at the Maldives Polytechnic. A total of 15 local youths were awarded certificate of selection for the company’s internship. Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan graced the ceremony. Ministry of Tourism has begun collecting data, containing information of individuals who have served in the tourism industry for more than 30 years. In an announcement, the ministry requested public support in obtaining names, identities and other relevant information on such individuals. The ministry requires information on said individuals who have persisted in the field, have continue to remain in the industry. Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Fathimath Nilfa said that the database initiative was a means to recognize the workers for their lengthy service. A community library has been established in GDh. Fiyoaree through Bank of Maldives (BML) Community Fund. Fiyoaree Association for Community Empowerment (FACE) carried the project. According to the project’s spearheading party, FACE comments the aim for the initiative is to ‘motivate island residents’ to engage in reading and spending quality time outdoors with family. The community library is established as part of the children’s park on the island. W Maldives launches a new culinary offering, welcoming celebrity vegan chef and sustainable cuisine champion, Priyanka Naik. The celebrity chef will headline the creation of a new pop-up menu. The new offering will be made available exclusively at the luxury-tier tourist property until October 2023. The Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM) International Exhibition and the Culinary Challenge kicks off on Sunday, 28th August. The exhibition was officiated by Maldives Vice President Faisal Naseem. The 2022 edition of the FHAM International Exhibition and Culinary Challenge is held from 28th until 30th August at Central Park, Hulhumale’. This also marks the first time the event is held at the venue. The largest food and beverage centric event is organized by Dhivehi Expo Services and CDC Events. Organizers report more than 700 participants from 80 resorts, along with 100 other exhibitors; both local and international.
Travel Trade Maldives (TTM) 2022 concluded with a successful participant turnout. The event began with TTM Connect, with multiple corporate meetings held at Meerumaa Events Conference Facility from 23rd to 24th August 2022. The event component attracted over 500 travel trade professionals, with over 100 hoteliers where more than 2,000 pre-scheduled meetings were successfully conducted.
