Fenaka Corporation has appointed Hussan Sham Adam as the new Chairman of the board. Sham, who was initially appointed as the State Minister of Finance under the current administration, had served as a director at the state-owned utility provider previously. His other key positions include the Deputy Minister of Finance during Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration in 2016, and had been a senior figure at the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) before transitioning to public sector.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of the Maldives on Sunday, June 15, announced the appointment of its new Secretary General. The commission announced the appointment of Ms. Fathimath Nilfa as the new Secretary General. She had previously been the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism. Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Sunday, June 15, announced that it has begun issuing notice to government-issued flats in Hulhumale’ with overdue rent. According to the information obtained by Sun Online, a local media, only 3,219 flats have been making regular rent payments out of the 8,511 government-issued flats, placing the overdue rent at a staggering MVR 728 million. Although HDC has the right of eviction of tenants from these properties owing to overdue rent, it said such measures have not been taken yet.
