India’s full-service carrier Vistara Airline announces daily schedule flights from Mumbai to Male’. The airline, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines is India’s highest rated airline on Skytrax and TripAdvisor. In addition to being one of the best aviation service providers hailing from India, Vistara Airline is also a proud recipient of multiple aviation accolades including several “Best Airline” wins. With the introduction of Vistara’s scheduled landings in Velana International Airport (VIA), India will have a total of four airlines operating to the Maldives.

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) confirms that the Attorney General’s Office must prosecute the resort properties, or its proprietors for the offense of long outstanding rents. Recently the inland revenue authority released its “Name and Shame” list which disclosed information of tourist properties with long overdue rents. A total of 12 resorts were listed in the document with a collective total of MVR665 million in outstanding rent payments. State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has commenced installation of the electrical network in Kudagiri of Male’ atoll. The island, which comes as the fruition of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s fulfillment of campaign pledge of developing a picnic island for the locals, will have facilities and utilities relevant for locals to enjoy during their picnic trips. The utility provider announced that the primary aim of the program is to ensure STELCO staff worked in safe and secure environments. Under the cleaning programs, wastage gathered in all of the utility provider’s powerhouses will be discarded and disposed accordingly. In addition to this, unwanted or unused electrical cables, iron bars, and other materials will be discarded from the powerhouses. Bank of Maldives (BML) on Monday, 23rd May, announced the launch of its new BML Pay wallet on Mobile Banking app. According to the bank, with the new upgrade, contactless payment services and wallet-to-wallet transfer services are now available through the mobile banking application. State Trading Organization (STO) has supplied first batch of concrete required for the test piling of the Thilamale’ bridge. The large-scale infrastructure development project aims to connect the islands of Vilimale’ and Gulhifalhu with Maldives capital Male’ City. Tourism arrivals to Maldives has exceeded 650,000 as of 18th May 2022, according to the Ministry of Tourism. In its most recent travel update, the ministry confirmed that the total number of tourist arrivals as of 18th May was recorded at 655,049 indicating an annual increment of 51.1% from the total arrival of 433,608 recorded by the same period in 2021.
