German leisure airline Condor is set to resume scheduled flights to the Maldives this coming summer, marking its return to the route after a year-long suspension.
The airline will operate services between Frankfurt and Velana International Airport from May through October, running four flights weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Condor’s previous Maldives operations wrapped up at the close of the summer 2024 season.
The resumption comes against a backdrop of sustained German demand for Maldivian tourism. Germany currently ranks as the fifth-largest source market for arrivals to the island nation, with 35,811 German tourists recorded so far this year, according to Ministry of Tourism figures published on March 17.
The return of direct airlift capacity from Frankfurt is likely to support further growth in that segment, with direct connectivity widely regarded as a key driver of tourist volume from long-haul markets.
Condor operates primarily as a leisure and holiday carrier, with the Maldives sitting firmly within its portfolio of long-haul beach destinations. The airline’s decision to reinstate the route signals renewed commercial confidence in Germany-Maldives travel demand heading into the peak European summer holiday period.
