Qatar Airways will resume scheduled flights to the Maldives on April 8, according to Visit Maldives. The airline plans to operate five flights each week on the route.
Earlier, Qatar Airways halted Maldives services after unrest in the Middle East triggered regional airspace closures. That disruption reduced transit options through Doha and created challenges for international travelers.
Now, the airline aims to restore a key travel link for passengers from the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. As a result, the resumption should support smoother connections and strengthen the Maldives’ tourism and aviation sectors.
Visit Maldives said the restart comes at an important time for the destination. Better access through Doha could help the Maldives attract more visitors from major long-haul markets. Therefore, the move may also support broader tourism recovery and business activity tied to international arrivals.
In addition, Qatar Airways will allow passengers with tickets for travel until Jun 15 to reschedule their flights with greater flexibility. This policy should help travelers manage changes more easily during the reopening period.
However, Visit Maldives urged passengers to check their flight schedules before departure. The tourism body also advised travelers to stay alert for possible timetable changes if operating conditions shift.
Overall, Qatar Airways’ return to the Maldives marks a positive development for regional aviation and global tourism connectivity. Moreover, the restart reinforces Doha’s role as a major hub for international travel to island destinations such as the Maldives.
