Thailand’s Onyx Hospitality Group will be opening its second Maldivian property under its luxury Amari brand next year. According to travel updates, the group’s next property, Amari Raaya Maldives is expected to debut during the first quarter of 2023. The 200-villa private island resort is situated in Raa atoll, northwest of Male’ City. The property features seven dining concepts, a Maai Spa and a kids club. Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has hosted the “Port Safety Forum” under its ongoing “Port Safety Week 2022”. According to Ministry of Finance, state’s cumulative earnings so far in 2022 reached MVR25.5 billion, as of 15 December 2022. On the other hand, state expenditure in annual terms reached MVR36.2 billion by the review date. The overall balance for the period is a deficit of MVR10.7 billion. By the review date, the cumulative total of tax revenues reached MVR18.2 billion. By the corresponding period in 2021, the amount had reached MVR13.5 billion, indicating healthier state earnings this year. Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives government celebrated the state’s visitor target achievement. Earlier, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih declared the tourist arrivals target, set at 1.6 million before 2022 ended. State Electric Company (STELCO) has announced it plans to launch scholarship opportunities for two higher secondary graduates. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) confirms a total of 2,610 private jets landed in Velana International Airport (VIA) so far in 2022. As per MACL, this is a 53% increment when compared with the same period in 2019. Moreover, air traffic movement by November 2022 saw a 10% increment when compared with the corresponding period in 2019. Total air traffic movement was recorded at 24,000 in 2019 and 27,000 in 2022.
