State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has confirmed that the company’s latest electricity network upgrade project has drawn close to completion. The utility provider initiated a network upgrade project on the island of Thoddoo, Alif Alif Atoll. According to the latest update from the Ministry of Finance, the cumulative total of state expenditure has reached MVR4,315.9 million (MVR4.3 billion) as of 24th February 2022. The Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology Ms. Aminath Shauna affirmed the state’s initiative of placing at least 1,000 solar units in local residences before the end of 2022.
