The Bank of Maldives (BML) on Sunday reopened applications for ‘Bank Fund’, introduced to empower local NGOs to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects. The ‘Bank Fund’ is opened for registered NGOs, charity organizations and clubs. The Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) and Norway’s Flocean have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to commence a feasibility study for the viability of a subsea reverse osmosis (RO) desalination system in the Maldives. The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has said it will begin making weekly payment disbursements to fishers by the end of 2024. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had promised disbursement of payments to fishers within 48 hours.
