The Bank of Maldives (BML) held its annual Staff Awards ceremony last night, recognizing outstanding employees across a wide range of categories. The event saw 38 awards presented to individuals and teams who delivered distinguished service throughout 2025.

Misbah Abdul Rasheed, Head of Business Systems in the Technology Division, took home the night’s top honor: Employee of the Year. BML cited his exceptional skills and his contribution to the institution across 2025.

The Leadership Excellence Award went to Yumna Naseem, Head of Property in the Properties and Administration Division.

Five senior figures earned the CEO Award for Outstanding Achievement, reflecting their role in driving the bank’s growth and long-term strategy. The recipients are Moosa Munsif Ahmed, Head of Strategy and Change; Husham Saeed, Director of Technology; Rashfa Jaufar, Chief Credit Officer; Hassan Shaam, Chief Properties and Administration Officer; and Adlee Ahmed Didi, Chief Information Officer.

Additional awards recognized teams and individuals under the categories of Outstanding Team Achievement, Project Excellence, and Innovation Catalyst.

Speaking at the ceremony, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef described 2025 as the most successful year in the bank’s 43-year history.

“This is not just a reflection of financial growth, but evidence of the bank’s expanding role in the economic development of the Maldives,” he said. He credited the results directly to the diligence, expertise, and ambition of BML’s workforce.

BML operates the largest banking network in the Maldives and ranks among the country’s biggest employers. Notably, Maldivians make up 99% of its total workforce.
