    Maldives tourist arrivals up 9.9% so far in 2024

    Maldives tourist arrivals up 9.9% so far in 2024: China maintains top market spot

    The tourist arrivals to the Maldives so far this year is up 9.9% compared to last year.

    According to the Ministry of Tourism, from January 1 to July 27, the Maldives attracted a total of 1,159,808 arrivals, compared to 1,055,031 arrivals in the same period last year.

    From July 1 to 27, the Maldives attracted 144,279 tourists, which is a 15.0% increment compared to the corresponding period last year, during which the country attracted 125,424.

    The Chinese market is still dominating the top source market spot, while Russia is in second place.

    The highest single-day arrival was observed on July 27, at 6,215, and the lowest single-day arrival was on July 9, at 4,169. The daily arrival average in annual terms is 5,549, and the average duration of stay is now 7.7 days in annual terms.
