    Tourist arrivals reach over 1.3 million so far in 2024

    The tourist arrivals to the Maldives has exceeded over 1.3 million as of August 27, 2024, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

    As per the latest statistics from the ministry, total tourist arrivals from January 01, 2024 to August 27, 2024 reached 1,343,911, which is a 10.4% increment from the 1,216,815 annual arrivals in the corresponding period in 2023.

    The daily arrival average is 5,600 in annual terms, and the average duration of stay is 7.7 days in annual terms. The highest arrival in a single day was recorded on August 14, with an arrival of 7,032 and the lowest single-day arrival was recorded on August 27, with an arrival of 3,715.

    • January – 192,385 | +11.5%
    • February – 217,392 | +22.2%
    • March – 194,227 | +11.9%
    • April – 168,366 | +2.4%
    • May – 119,875 | -0.9%
    • June – 123,284 | +2.4%
    • July – 167,528 | +15.0%
    • August (1st-27th) – 160,854 | +13.6%

    With an average increase reflected across the months compared to the same months last year, tourist arrivals across the top markets has also indicated growth.

    China maintains top rank, with arrivals from the market now less than 5,000 shy of hitting 200,000 arrivals in annual terms. Russia is second spot with over 144,000 arrivals.
