    Tourism Minister announces target of at least 15 WTA awards in 2025

    Tourism Minister reveals target to winning at least 15 awards at WTA 2025

    The Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal on Wednesday said the Maldives will be targeting to achieve at least 15 awards at the World Travel Awards (WTA) in 2025.

    Speaking at a press conference held to commemorate Maldives securing the most prestigious “World’s Leading Destination” for the fifth consecutive time at WTA this year – the minister said Maldives stands the chance to win more awards at the WTA in the upcoming year.

    “Our goal for next year is to win about 15 to 20 awards and in this trajectory, we are undertaking efforts in collaboration with MMPRC and the industry,” he commented.

    The minister also congratulated Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for the successes achieved by the country at this year’s WTA.

    Speaking further, the minister, while referring to the government’s target to welcome two million tourists in 2024, said Maldives has welcomed more than 1,815,000 tourists so far this year.

    Statistics estimate that the two millionth arrival will touch Maldives on December 25th, the minister added.

    Besides the coveted “World’s Leading Destination” title, Maldives won in 8 categories at the WTA 2024, which are:

    • World’s Leading Green Destination
    • World’s Leading Seaplane Operator – Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA)
    • World’s Leading Airport Resort 2024 – Hulhule’ Island Hotel (HIH)
    • World’s Leading Luxury Island Resort 2024 – The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort
    • World’s Leading Private Island Resort 2024 – Velaa Private Island
    • World’s Leading Water Villa Resort 2024 – Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa
