    Tourist arrivals up 4.8% in 2025; China reclaims top rank

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives see 4.8% increase so far in 2025

    The Ministry of Tourism has revealed the total tourist arrivals so far has crossed above 549,000.

    With arrivals well above the half-million mark, tourist arrivals to the Maldives has observed a 4.8% increment compared to the same period last year when arrivals had stood at 524,340.

    Annual Tourist Arrivals Over the Years

    • 2022: Annual total of 1,675,303
    • 2023: Annual total of 1,878,543
    • 2024: Annual total of 2,046,615

    Although the United Kingdom (UK) took the top spot for the most number of tourist arrivals by nationality in February, the market has slipped to third spot as of the most recent review date of March 19, 2025.

    Top 10 Arrivals by Nationality

    1. China: 67,414 | 12.3%
    2. Russia: 56,575 | 10.3%
    3. UK: 56,183 | 10.2%
    4. Italy: 51,808 | 9.4%
    5. Germany: 38,263 | 7.0%
    6. India: 26,914 | 4.9%
    7. France: 22,729 | 4.1%
    8. USA: 17,180 | 3.1%
    9. Poland: 12,313 | 2.2%
    10. Switzerland: 12,038 | 2.2%

    The tourist industry currently consists of a total of 62,587 operational beds across all tourist properties.
