State Pharmaceutical & Medical Supply Corporation Ltd (State Pharma) has signed a distributorship agreement with Hiranis Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd, adding a Pakistani manufacturer to the list of suppliers feeding medicines into the Maldivian market.

The company framed the deal as a step towards a more dependable pipeline. Its stated aim is to keep quality medicines flowing without interruption: the sort of supply-chain resilience that matters in an archipelago where stock has to reach islands scattered across hundreds of kilometers, not just pharmacy shelves in the capital.

State Pharma said the agreement strengthens and broadens its international supplier network, and gives momentum to its wider push to lock in reliable channels of supply. The objective it set out: safe, good-quality medicines available across the country, delivered on a sustainable basis and without shortages.

Hiranis is a well-known drug manufacturer in Pakistan with a growing international footprint. Trade data cited in the announcement show its products going into a number of Asian markets: the Maldives, the Philippines and Afghanistan among them, as well as other markets globally.

Terms were not disclosed, and the announcement did not name the product lines covered, nor the duration of the agreement and the officials who signed it.
