    Maldives attracts over 840K tourist visitors so far in 2021

    Tourist arrivals to Maldives reach beyond 840K as of 23rd Sept 2021

    According to the latest updates from Ministry of Tourism, the total tourist arrivals to Maldives so far in 2021 has reached 843,552.

    Moreover, the ministry reports this arrival total was confirmed as of 23rd September and further noted that the arrival total from 01st to 22nd September stood at 87,586.

    This arrival total exclusive for September marks an increment of 10.4% when compared with the same period in 2019 where the arrival total stood at 85,382. Meanwhile, the arrival total in 2021 observed a staggering 1,329.6% improvement when compared with the same period in 2020 where the arrival count stood at just 6,969.

    Furthermore, India maintains first rank as top source market to Maldives with an arrival total of 191,824 so far which is 22.7% of the total tourist arrivals to the country. Russia follows closely behind at second rank with an arrival total of 168,221 so far which is 19.9% of the total arrivals.

    On the other hand, other top source markets include Germany at third spot with a total arrival of 51,031 (6.0%) so far and USA with a total arrival of 34,145 (4.0%) so far. Arrivals from Saudi Arabia stood at 29,148 (3.5%) and Ukraine with an arrival total of 28,054 (3.3%).
