    Tourist arrivals to Maldives inches close to hitting 1-mil

    According to latest statistics from Ministry of Tourism, the tourist arrivals to Maldives so far has inched closer to hitting 1 million.

    Moreover, the statistics from the state body confirmed that the total tourist arrivals as of 21st October reached 962,490.

    Furthermore, the total tourist arrivals from 01st to 21st October 2021 reached 91,628 which is a 605.0% improvement over the same period in 2020 where the arrival count stood at 12,997. However, compared with the same period in 2019 where the total arrival stood at 95,855 this was still 4.4% below.

    Meanwhile, the daily arrival average has increased to 4,363 arrivals while the duration of stay has increased to 8.2-days from 8.1-days in September.

    India continues to remain as the top source market to the country with an arrival total of 219,381 so far which is 22.8% of the total arrivals to Maldives. Russia rests at the second spot with an arrival total of 180,517 so far which is 18.8% of the total arrivals.

    Arrivals from Germany has reached 64,200 which is 6.7% of the total arrivals and the market is currently ranked third while USA is at fourth spot with a total arrival of 38,777 which is 4.0% of the total arrivals.

    Moreover, Saudi Arabia maintains fifth spot with an arrival count of 32,376 which is 3.4% of the total arrivals to the Maldives.
