The proposed state budget by the Maldives government for the upcoming year of 2022 is MVR36,925.4 million (MVR36.9 billion).
Furthermore, the state projects this budgetary total is 0.7% below the annual budgetary total for the current year.
Meanwhile, the projections by Ministry of Finance report that the state budget’s intermediary increment will be at 1.1% in the year 2023 and another 1.2% in 2024.
According to the Maldives government, 67.2% of the expenditure total will be focused on recurrent needs and the remaining 32.8% will be directed on capital expenses. Moreover, the intermediary recurrent expenses are expected to increase owing to Covid-19 countering efforts and the subsequent economic recovery efforts.
From the proposed budget total for 2022, a total of MVR24,816.2 million (MVR24.8 billion) is expected to be spent on recurrent expenses and the remaining MVR12,109.2 million (MVR12.1 billion) on capital expenses.
