    Tourist daily arrival average increases in December

    Tourist arrivals to Maldives reach 1.19mn in December so far

    According to the latest statistical updates from Maldives Ministry of Tourism the daily arrival average of tourists has increased to 4,970 as of 08th December 2021.

    Moreover, the total tourist arrivals from January until 08th December stood at 1,197,409 while the arrivals from 01st until 09th December stands at 39,756.

    The arrival count for the first eight days of December is still 0.5% below pre-pandemic levels. As such, in 2019 during the corresponding period the arrival count stood at 39,950. However, arrival count in the review period observed a growth of 141.7% when compared with the same period in 2020 where the arrival total stood at just 16,450.

    Furthermore, India is still the top source market to the Maldives with an arrival total of 269,664 (22.5%) so far while Russia is ranked second with 208,351 (17.4%) so far.

    Germany continues to rest at third spot with an arrival total of 86,233 (7.2%) so far while USA is at fourth rank with 50,438 (4.2%) arrivals so far and UK with 49,279 (4.1%) arrivals as of 08th December.
