The Managing Director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) claims on the corporation’s plan to initiate a new solar power output project at Kaafu atoll Gulhi.
According to the front-man of STELCO, the project involves establishment of a solar power system at the island in order to provide electricity to the residences.
STELCO’s Managing Director, Mr. Hassan Mughnee made the revelation during the special inaugural ceremony held on Tuesday, 01st February 2022, to officially commence operations of the new water and sewerage system in Gulhi.
Moreover, Mr. Mughee stated that the government’s ambition remains in the provision of renewable energy to the public in a sustainable and affordable manner, which STELCO aims to realize through their innovative efforts.
Speaking about the initiative, the STELCO honcho further revealed the corporation’s plan on installing solar panels worth 25 kilo-Watts at Gulhi and linking them up with the Greater Male’ Interconnectivity Grid.
During the ceremony, Mr. Mughnee had also highlighted over the rise on the demand of electricity in Gulhi. He noted that over the past three years, state observed an approximate of 12% increment in the demand for electricity in Gulhi due to a noticeable growth in guesthouse and other business ventures.
