JEN Maldives Male’ by Shangri-La becomes the first Maldivian hotel property to receive the Muslim Friendly Travel Rating (MFTR) by the Maldives Halal Travel (MHT).

The MFTR is a voluntary rating initiative by the MHT that examines and evaluates tourist properties including resorts, hotels, guesthouses, safaris, and liveaboards based on their level of catering to Muslim tourists.

The rating, which is an annual evaluation process, is carried out on the property to assess if it fits into the requirements of a Muslim-friendly tourist property.

Establishments are assessed based on halal food catering, recreational facilities for both genders, conservative dress code, Muslim-friendly amenities, privacy, non-halal activities, services during the month of Ramadan, prayer facilities, and financial transactional methods.

According to Maldives Halal Travel, JEN Maldives Male’ scored five stars – which is the highest rating standard of them – and the property is now considered among the top-class establishments in the country with “exclusive services for Muslim travelers.”

To commemorate the achievement, the Founder and Managing Director of MHT, Dr. Hussain Sunny Umar handed a special plaque of recognition to the General Manager of JEN Maldives Male’ Mr. Brice Lunot.
