President's Office announces official working hours for Ramadan

With the Islamic sacred month of Ramadan roughly a month away – from the Hijri calendar year – the President’s Office had announced revised working hours for the month.

The Islamic sacred month of Ramadan falls on the first week of April 2022, and the lunar month will last for an expected 29 days.

Muslims all over the world observe fasting during the holy month and abstain from consuming food or beverages from dawn until dusk. Due to the expected extra stress on Muslim workers, while observing their fast, the working hours of the public sector are often revised for the period.

On Sunday, 06th March, the President’s Office of Maldives had confirmed the working hours will commence at 09:00hrs and last until 13:00hrs for government and public sector offices.

The announcement was made in the fourth directive issued by the President’s Office in 2022, while the office further advised all government offices to adhere to the working hour changes in Ramadan and follow it while planning events and activities.

In addition to this, the working hours will remain effective for the first seven days of Shawwal, the month that follows Ramadan.
