    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives have exceeded 324,000 as of 09th March 2022, according to the latest updates from the Ministry of Tourism.

    The most recent figures from the authority confirm that the total number of tourist arrivals by the review date reached 324,743, indicating an annual growth of 48.6% when compared with the same period in 2021.

    On the other hand, the tourist arrivals exclusively for March (so far), showed a total of 43,971 indicating a 49.1% increment when compared with the same period last year.

    The daily arrival average on annual terms stood at 4,776 whereas in March from 01st to 09th, it reached 4,886 while the average duration of stay dropped from 8.6 days in February to 8.4 days in March.

    Regardless of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, the former still maintained the top source market spot with 48,173 tourist arrivals so far – which is 14.8% of the total. However, the arrival growth showed visible signs of slowing down.

    Other top source markets include;

    • United Kingdom – 36,608 arrivals (11.3%)
    • India – 31,433 arrivals (9.7%)
    • Germany – 25,650 arrivals (7.9%)
    • Italy – 22,385 arrivals (6.9%)
