    Tourist arrivals exceed 560k, arrivals from UK almost hit 80k

    The most recent tourist statistics from Ministry of Tourism confirm total arrivals of holidaymakers to the Maldives as of 27th April reached 560,996.

    Furthermore, the arrival total in year-to-date terms is a 47.1% increase when compared with the same period in 2021, during which the arrival total had reached 381,426. However, total arrivals were still 11.0% below pre-pandemic levels in 2019 during which it had reached 630,015 by the corresponding period.

    Meanwhile, the daily arrival average to the Maldives in annual terms is 4,795 while the average duration of stay in annual terms is currently 8.5 days.

    United Kingdom leads the source market list with India following closely in second spot, the list of top ten source list remains relatively unchanged from the previous review week. As of 27th April, the arrivals to Maldives by source markets are as follows;

    1. United Kingdom – 73,107 arrivals (13.0%)
    2. India – 65,412 arrivals (11.7%)
    3. Russia – 56,162 arrivals (10.0%)
    4. Germany – 49,510 arrivals (8.8%)
    5. Italy – 40,238 arrivals (7.2%)
    6. United States – 25,701 arrivals (4.6%)
    7. France – 25,282 arrivals (4.5%)
    8. Switzerland – 15,413 arrivals (2.7%)
    9. Austria – 11,483 arrivals (2.0%)
    10. Saudi Arabia – 10,260 arrivals (1.8%)

    Moreover, the combined operational bed capacity in the Maldivian tourism industry is currently at 54,662. From the total operational tourist properties, 164 are tourist resorts, 659 are guesthouses and hotels and 150 are safari vessels.
