Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mr. Mohamed Aslam confirms his respective ministry’s decision to announce application for land plot issuance from Greater Male’ region by late June.

Mr. Aslam made the confirmation during Wednesday’s session of the parliament, and noted that the ministry will open application window for Male’ residents in accordance with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s pledge.

The ministry is expected to make formal announcement of application window on 26th June.

President Solih’s administration earlier announced that it was working to resolve the housing crisis in the congested Maldivian capital by allocating plots of land from Greater Male’ region for long-time residents living in the city.

Under the housing scheme a total of 1,000 land plots from Hulhumale’, 2,000 plots from Gulhifalhu and another 2,000 land plots from the reclaimed land from Giraavaru lagoon will be issued to residents living in the capital city.

Meanwhile, the ministry confirms that it will announce issuance of 3,000 plots during the first round, scheduled for late June.
