JOALI Maldives opens a reading park and Special Education Needs (SEN) classroom in Raa atoll Ungoofaaru School.

The resort donated USD20,000 to finance the educational facilities of the school. Through the funding, the school engaged in developing one of the largest reading parks in the Maldives, inclusive of a ‘Brain Gym.’

The ‘Brain Gym’ is a dedicated space to teaching students games that require challenging the mind; such as puzzle, chess, scrabble and Rubik’s Cube. The games are perfect for stimulating the brains of young minds.

Under the project, a new SEN classroom was developed with the aim of enhancing inclusive learning space for children with special needs. The project focused on sustainable approaches, with minimal disruption to the environment.

General Manager of JOALI Maldives, Enver Arslan highlighted the importance of education to build prospective generations, “Supporting education and capacity building is vital for community development – and is one of our key focus areas. We will continue to partner with local institutions and organizations, and collectively work to educate and inspire the future generations.”

This is one of the latest community empowerment initiatives by JOALI, while it had earlier donated USD30,000 and two eight-seater buggies worth USD14,900 to Raa atoll Dhuvaafaru.
