Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) together with 173 representatives from 80 companies, have commenced showcasing the island nation at World Travel Market (WTM) London 2022.

The event is hosted at ExCel London from 07th to 09th November. The Maldivian delegation at the WTM London this year is led by MMPRC Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed.

WTM London is one of the most leading global travel-trade fairs, for the industry. MMPRC will be utilizing the event’s industry networks and unrivalled global reach, with the three-day in-person event creating business opportunities to connect with industry delegates and international media. Throughout the WTM London 2022, MMPRC will prioritize meeting with travel trades from United Kingdom and other global partners, and share the latest updates of the Maldivian tourism scene.

MMPRC with industry partners will promote the country’s diverse tourism products and segments, and showcase the unique aspects, activities and experiences through a 420 square-meters double-decker Maldivian stand at the event.

The tourism promoter and industry partners have planned a new activity at the Maldivian stand at the WTM London this year, which is a 360 video booth – that uses a revolving camera to give a 360-degree experience of the island nation. Other activities at the stand include distributing press pack, launching the 2023 destination guide and kicking off a new venture by MMPRC for next year, as part of its global marketing efforts.

Another major highlight of the event is the ‘Maldives Media Meet’, which includes a panel of speakers discussing the island nation’s tourism industry, commemorating 50 years of tourism. The scheduled speakers under the event include Mr. Hussain Afeef, one of the most prominent tourism figures in the Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Farah Faizal, the High Commissioner of the Maldives to the UK, Great Britain and Ireland along with MMPRC’s honcho Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed.

In addition to the event participation, MMPRC in its strategic promotion of the Maldives during the Maldivian delegation’s stay in UK, will host a three-city roadshow series in London, Manchester and Newcastle on 09th, 10th and 11th November respectively.

UK is one of the strongest source markets to the Maldives, with a reported 147,535 annual arrivals as of 02nd November. The country is currently ranked third in terms of top source markets to the tropical destination.
