    Maldives tourist arrivals reach over 1.42 million

    Maldives tourist arrivals exceed 1.42 million by mid-November 2022

    Tourist arrivals to Maldives exceeds 1.42 million as of 16th November 2022.

    Ministry of Tourism, in their most recent statistics, confirmed tourist arrivals had reached an annual total of 1,421,907. This is a 30.7% annual increment when compared with the same period in 2021, during which arrivals reached 1,088,170.

    Despite this, arrivals in annual terms is still 3.0% below that of the same period in 2019. Arrivals in annual terms by the corresponding period reached 1,465,490.

    Tourist arrivals exclusively from 01st to 16th November stood at 77,550. This is a mild 3.1% increment when compared with the same period last year, during which it stood at 75,242. Arrivals for the period also showed a moderate 7.9% increase from the same period in 2019, during which arrivals stood at 71,872.

    Tourist source market rankings observed a notable change during this review date, when compared with the previous review date (on 09th November 2022).

    Saudi Arabia which was in ninth rank during the 09th November review slipped out from the top ten source market list. On the other hand, Switzerland which was ranked tenth during the previous review date had moved up to ninth rank replacing Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, a new market has secured tenth rank; South Korea.
