    Tourist arrivals reach 1.57 million, expects hitting 1.6 million this week

    Tourist arrivals to Maldives at 1.57 million annually, expects hitting 1.6 million on Tuesday

    Maldives tourist arrivals in annual terms have reached 1,566,083 as of 14th December 2022.

    Following the annual arrival count by the review date, tourist arrivals observed a 27.6% increment when compared with the same period in 2021. During the same period last year, arrivals had reached 1,227,737.

    Meanwhile, arrivals were 2.1% lower when compared with the same period in 2019. By the same period in 2019, arrivals were at 1,599,372.

    Moreover, tourist arrivals exclusively for the period 1st to 14th December stood at 74,840. This is a modest 6.8% increment when compared with the same period in 2021, during which arrivals were observed at 70,840. Furthermore, arrivals for the same period in 2019 stood at 67,833 indicating a moderate 10.3% increment for the period this year.

    While the total tourist arrivals had reached 1.57 million in annual terms by the review date, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) confirmed that the country will welcome its 1.6 millionth traveler sometime during Tuesday, 20th December.
