Oaga Art Resort opened its doors, officially welcoming travelers from around the globe, this new year.

The newly opened tourist getaway, a contemporary brand driven by a wholly Maldivian team focuses the main concept of the resort around the philosophy of organic community growth. The art resort focuses on “elevating the collective story of the Maldive islands with a platform especially made to cater to local artists and craftsmen” while embracing the surrounding sun, sand, and beaches.

The resort opened with the 2023 new year celebrations, showcasing a transition from the traditional ways of the forefathers to the contemporary street style.

The resort’s all-inclusive plan includes experiences such as Creative Expression (art) classes, Take Notes (music) sessions, Thashibari In-Villa Dinning, floating meals, choices of excursions, and motorized watersports among several other activities.

The villas of Oaga Art Resort are inspired by the most beloved folktales in the history of the Maldives. The Haruge Beach Villa with a private pool invites travelers to dive into the brightly colored murals depicting the legendary lovers of Maldives – Dhon Hiyala and Alifulhu.

The Veyoge Gallery Pool Villas, inspired by the story of ‘Khalid and Sitti’, are fashioned after the home where the lovers spent their nights.

Additionally, the main bar of Oaga Art Resort, Raa Baa, is where the largest hand-painted mural pool in the Maldives rests for visitors galore.

Centering around the arts, folklore, and the culture of the Maldivian identity, the resort caters to an authentic Maldivian product. There are over 300 hand-painted murals, created by local artists and creatives, to spot on the island. Moreover, as part of the resort’s CSR initiatives, Oaga Art Resort aims to provide a platform to promote local talents and give back to the local cottage industries.

Oaga Art Resort is situated in North Male’ Atoll, resting 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport (VIA). The luxury high-end resort consists of 60 villas with beach and over-water options, 4 dining venues and a spa.
