Marriott International Maldives celebrated International Women’s Day colorfully.

The high-tier property on 08th March 2023 conducted two inspiring events to celebrate women achievements and progress towards equality. The events were hosted at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa and Huraa Island.

Sheraton Maldives kicked off the celebrations with a panel discussion which featured Emma Jones, the Area Director of Human Resources at Marriott International for Singapore, Malaysia, and Maldives; Shalinee Ahmed, the Market Director of Sales and Marketing at Marriott International Maldives; Mohamed Shiman, the Director of Human Resources at Sheraton Maldives.

The topic of the panel discussion was “Women’s achievements and progress towards equality.” The panel was broadcast live allowing female associates from all seven Marriott Bonvoy resorts in the Maldives to participate virtually.

Huraa Island kicked off its panel discussion at the island’s Community Center. The discussion allowed female talent from the local island to join in and engage with panelists as well.

The panel was attended by more than 50 young-adult women of Huraa, members of the island’s council, principal and female leaders of Huraa School, and the island’s Women’s Development Committee members. The session was moderated by Mohamed Shiman, and included Aminath Abdul Rasheed, the Chef de Partie from JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa; Aminath Hameed, the Junior Sous Chef from The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands; and Ibrahim Hassan, the Director of Human Resources at The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort.

Marriott International Maldives’ properties are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The events held on International Women’s Day reflect the company’s core values and strategic business goals.
