China has become the third strongest source market to the Maldives.
Following the reopening of its borders for outbound travels, China’s tourist market to the Maldives resumed earlier in January 2023 and quickly entered into the top 10 list of the source markets.
While the Ministry of Tourism earlier anticipated the market to enter third position by early August, China has achieved the feat at least a week ahead.
Statistics from the Ministry of Tourism confirm an arrival total of 91,555 tourists as of July 30.
Russia is still leading the list with 126,504 annual arrivals with India closely following behind at second place with 122,375 arrivals.
Previous third place holder, United Kingdom is now ranked fourth with 89,769 arrivals.
Maldives has observed a year-to-date total of 1,070,765 tourists by the review date.
