    Tourist arrivals at 1.16 million by mid August

    Tourist arrivals maintain strong momentum will into mid of 2023 third quarter

    As third quarter of 2023 is halfway through, the Maldivian tourism momentum remains impressively strong as of August 16.

    The country has attracted 1,165,337 tourists as of the review date which is a 13.8% increment in annual terms. Annual tourist arrivals for the same period in 2022 stood at 1,023,729.

    Tourist Arrivals – Monthly

    1. January: 172,499
    2. February: 177,915
    3. March: 173,514
    4. April: 164,357
    5. May: 120,959
    6. June: 120,363
    7. July: 145,629
    8. August (1st to 16th): 90,101

    While tourist arrivals saw a 13.8% annually, arrivals from 1st to 16th August saw a 17.1% increment in 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. In 2023, for the review date, arrivals stood at 90,101 whereas in the same period last year, it stood at 76,949.
