Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives adds free scuba diving for guests as part of their stay just days after nabbing Best Dive Resort 2023 award.
“This inclusion sets us apart from our competitors and offers something pretty fantastic for keen scuba divers visiting the Maldives,” Mark Eletr, the General Manager of the property said.
“Just like we include breakfast, snorkeling lessons and access to the Kids’ Club as part of a stay, we now include diving!” Mark added.
Kandooma Maldives boats of its own five-star PADI dive center dubbed the ‘Kandooma Dive’ complete with experienced and professional dive instructors.
The resort is also famous of its dive-centric approach, positioned on the doorstep of some of the top 10 dive sites in the Maldives. The notable dive points in close proximity to Kandooma include;
Kandooma Thila
Vibrant fish, colorful corals and their beautiful formations with an abundance of marine life. From white-tip reef sharks to eagle rays, this dive site comes to life with a captivating biodiversity spectacle.
Guraidhoo Corner
Gray reef sharks, white-tip sharks, and eagle rays find home here, and features a dramatic underwater structure complementing the underwater flora and faunas.
Cocoa Corner
A magnet for pelagic species, divers often spot hammerheads, mantas, and other larger marine inhabitants as they glide thoughtlessly across decent trenches and troughs.
Kuda Giri
One of the more popular wrecks in South Male’ which includes a small wreck and a pinnacle. This location is also a breeding ground for an array of underwater creatures.
Manta Point
The name is enough for divers to understand what the location holds. The point is popular for those who wish to feed and meet the gentle giants of the rays.
Lhosfushi
The channel deepens to a sandy bottom to 30 meters from sea level, and is home to a plethora of interesting underwater inhabitants including snapper, sweet lips, fusilier, tuna, Napoleon and white-tips that often jolly a few swims to find their sustenance.
Medhufaru
‘Medhufaru’ translates to ‘Middle-Reef’, and is a strong dive point with incoming and outgoing ocean currents, which is the likely reason for the location’s name. The area is a festive zone for fish like Napoleon, eagle rays and other jubilant and vibrant ceeatures.
Kandooma Caves
A labyrinth of dive-throughs (no pun intended!) with underwater caverns adorned with sponges and gorgonians. The site is best known for the macro-underwater biodiversity.
Waggiri
The perfect location for those looking out to experience how the smaller underwater lives spend their time. Divers can expect to spot anemone fish, groupers, frog fish, ghost pipe fish, bat fish, stonefish, and yellow mouth moray eels.
Miyaru Kandu
Direction translation of this point is ‘Shark Sea”, and is home to barracudas, snappers, and true to the location’s name, reef sharks.
The Dive Free @ Kandooma inclusions commenced from September 1 and will be reviewed until October 31, 2024.
