The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), also known as Visit Maldives, is thrilled to announce its participation in the esteemed World Travel Market London 2023 (WTM London). The event is scheduled to take place from November 6th to November 8th, 2023, at ExCel London. At WTM London, MMPRC is proudly presenting the Sunny Side of Life, standing alongside 181 representatives from 92 prominent industry partners within the Maldives tourism sector. Leading the Maldivian delegation at WTM London is Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of MMPRC.

WTM London stands as one of the premier global platforms for the travel industry, bringing together professionals from around the world to facilitate crucial business deals and networking opportunities. Since its inception in 1980, WTM London has played a pivotal role in fostering the growth of the tourism sector, boasting extensive global reach and a commitment to building quality connections.

The primary objectives of MMPRC at WTM London 2023 include engaging with travel trade professionals from the United Kingdom and global partners. The aim is to share the latest updates about the Maldives and its tourism products. In-person one-on-one meetings will be conducted to maximize networking opportunities and reinforce the Maldives’ reputation as a preferred holiday destination.

The Maldives will be prominently featured in a spacious 500 sqm double-decker stand at WTM London 2023. The stand is meticulously designed to showcase the unique aspects of the Maldivian destination. It prominently displays the breathtaking sights and diverse experiences available to visitors. The stand comprises 91 co-exhibitor counters, 51 B2B meeting tables, two industry meeting areas, and two information counters. An exclusive ‘experiential zone’ has been set up, featuring a presentation area and an ‘Underwater tunnel’ walkway displaying the mesmerizing marine life found in the Maldives waters. Additionally, a special ‘Maldives Press Conference’ is scheduled on the sidelines of WTM London, on November 7th, 2023.

Visitors to the Maldives stand can engage in various activities, including industry presentations by renowned resorts such as Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa, Amilla Maldives, Movenpick Resort Kuredhivaru Maldives, Heritance Aarah Maldives, and Fairmont Maldives, Sirru Fen Fushi. These presentations offer co-exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their unique products and enhance their brand image. MMPRC is also emphasizing tourism sustainability efforts, allowing attendees to contribute to the growth of actual corals dedicated to them. Additionally, the “Weave your Maldivian Story” activity enables visitors to represent their experiences in the Maldives by weaving a unique whale shark shape. Social Media Filter Amplification and traditional corners showcasing Maldivian culture are also part of the engaging activities.

As of October 5th, 2023, the United Kingdom stands as the fourth top source market for the Maldives, contributing significantly to the thriving tourism sector with a market share of 7.9%. The UK market continues to play a pivotal role, with a total of 109,755 arrivals from the UK. Visit Maldives has undertaken various initiatives to boost arrivals from this significant market, including media partnership campaigns, joint marketing efforts, and collaboration with prominent travel organizations.

Visit Maldives eagerly anticipates WTM London 2023 as a platform to strengthen connections, showcase the beauty of the Maldives, and foster partnerships for a sustainable and thriving tourism industry.
