The Maldives has emerged as the World’s Leading Destination accolade for the fourth consecutive time.
Maldives was bestowed the with prestigious accolade at the World Travel Awards 2023 held at Dubai’s Burj Al-Arab, United Arab Emirates.
The island nation was crowned as the World’s Leading Destination for the fourth year in a row after competing with 17 other global destinations that included Dubai, Indonesia, New Zealand, Spain, and Vietnam.
Besides this, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), the country’s national tourism board, won the World’s Leading Tourist Board title for the second consecutive time this year.
Additionally, Maldives was nominated for other titles which included;

- World’s Leading Dive Destination
- World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination
- World’s Leading Island Destination
- World’s Most Romantic Destination
