    Maldives attracts over 1.7 million tourists

    Maldives attracts over 1.7 million tourists by December 11, draws close to 1.8 million target

    The Maldives has welcomed over 1.7 million tourists by December 11, 2023 according to the Ministry of Tourism.

    According to the ministry on its most recent arrival update, the total arrivals to the Maldives as of the review date stood at 1,747,369; which is a 12.7% annual increment compared to the same period in 2022.

    The daily average of arrivals in annual terms is now at 5,232 while the average duration of stay in annual terms is 7.6 days.

    From December 1 to 11, arrivals reached a total of 63,522 which is a moderate 7.7% increment compared to the same duration in 2022 during which arrivals stood at 58,990.

    While the current arrival total has already exceeded last year’s annual total arrivals of 1.6 million, the arrival figure is inching close to hitting the 1.8 million target set earlier by the Maldives government.
