The Maldives government has resumed allocation of land plots for recipients under the Binveriya Scheme launched during the previous administration.
Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih led government began handing over the land plot registries in August 2023 and allocated some of the plots for recipients before the transfer of government.
Earlier, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assured that the current administration will continue handing over the plots and housing flats to the recipients included in the final list published during the Solih Administration.
The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development resumed allocation of land plots, with 18 plots handed over in one day. The ministry is overseeing the clearance and handover of the plots to the recipients who have already signed the registry agreement.
According to the Ministry, around 700 agreements have already been signed while a total of 545 plots have been handed over to their recipients. The remaining plots would be handed over to their rightful landowners soon, said the ministry.
