    Maldives welcomes first cruise liner of the year

    Maldives welcomes first cruise liner of the year; the Costa Serena

    The Maldives has welcomed the first cruise liner arrival to the island nation in 2024, carrying a substantial number of travelers.

    The Costa Serena, originating from Cochin, India, berthed in the Maldives on January 8, 2024.

    The Italian cruise liner reportedly accommodated over 2,000 travelers and previously made stops in Mumbai and Goa before reaching the Maldives. The liner is berthed outside of Male’ City.

    The Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA), while speaking with PSM News said that the cruise liner has contributed towards a significant influx in arrivals.

    Besides this, MAYA also notified of 14 additional cruise liner trips scheduled to the Maldives by May 2024, with an estimated tourist count over 28,000.
