As per the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, tourist arrivals have reached 128,548 as of January 21, 2024.

The arrival figure is 11.6% above the same period in 2023, during which arrivals stood at 89,369. The current daily arrival average is 6,121 while the average duration of stay is 8.0 days.

The Maldives is currently experiencing the high-season in tourism, which experiences an exponential growth in the influx of visitors.

    Top 10 Markets – 2024

    1. Russia: 14,495
    2. Italy: 13,965
    3. UK: 10,689
    4. China: 10,113
    5. India: 9,744
    6. Germany: 8,013
    7. USA: 4,857
    8. France: 4,471
    9. Poland: 3,685
    10. Kazakhstan: 2,717

India which usually dominates the arrival market in either the first or second spot started off 2024 in third place, which has since been replaced by the UK while the South Asian giant has slipped into sixth spot past China, which is now in fourth place and continues to gain momentum.

The arrivals from India appear to reflect the recent tension between the country and the Maldives, which ignited earlier in January following derogatory remarks made at the Indian Prime Minister by some top government officials of the Maldives.
