    China widens gap to strengthen top rank spot over competitor markets

    Arrivals from China exceeds 40,000 as of February 14, 2024 reports the Ministry of Finance.

    According to the statistics posted by the ministry, tourist arrivals from China reached 40,892 as of January 13, which is exactly 11,919 ahead of the second strongest market; Russia.

    Italy is the third strongest source market while UK has maintained fourth spot. India is in fifth place, with each of these markets above 20,000 arrivals so far in 2024.

    4. UK: 26,120
    5. India: 20,903
    6. Germany: 17,943
    7. France: 10,542
    8. USA: 9,651
    9. Poland: 7,875
    10. Switzerland: 6,752

    The total tourist arrivals to the Maldives has reached 294,923 as of the review date; which is a 16.2% increase in annual terms. From February 1 to 13, arrivals to the Maldives stood at 102,538; registering an impressive 26.1% increase in total arrivals.

    The daily arrival average is at 6,703 on a year-to-date basis while the average duration of stay is 7.9 days.
