Chinese arrivals exceeded 50,000 as of February 26, 2024, reports the Ministry of Tourism.

While the momentum of Chinese tourist arrivals to the Maldives remains apace, Russia has stolen Italy’s spot to become the second strongest market, making Italy the third strongest now.

UK is still the fourth strongest source market to the Maldives, while India, which in previous years topped the chart is currently the fifth strongest source market – in light of boycott movements by Indian citizens.

    Top 10 Markets

    1. China: 52,709
    2. Russia: 37,877
    3. Italy: 37,393
    4. UK: 34,798
    5. India: 25,751
    6. Germany: 24,253
    7. France: 15,506
    8. USA: 12,615
    9. Poland: 9,938
    10. Switzerland: 8,718

Total arrivals to the Maldives in annual terms have reached 392,389, which is a 15.7% increment compared to the 339,261 observed by the corresponding period in 2023.

Moreover, arrivals from February 1 to 26 reached 200,004, indicating a 19.9% increase from the 166,762 arrivals observed by the same duration last year.
