    Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) announces multiple nominations for the island nation at the World Travel Awards 2024, under the Indian Ocean’s category.

    This year, Maldives has been nominated for nine distinct titles under the Indian Ocean’s category, which include;

    1. Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination 2024
    2. Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination 2024
    3. Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination 2024
    4. Indian Ocean’s Leading Green Destination 2024
    5. Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination 2024
    6. Indian Ocean’s Leading Tourist Board 2024
    7. Indian Ocean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination 2024
    8. Indian Ocean’s Leading Cruise Destination 2024
    9. Indian Ocean’s Leading Wedding Destination 2024

    Voting for the WTA Indian Ocean’s category will be open until March 31, 2024. MMPRC has urged travel enthusiasts and industry professionals to cast their votes in support of the island nation’s tourism industry.

    Maldives has been the recipient of the Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination title for four consecutive years, starting from 2020, and a win in this title would stretch the record to five back-to-back years.

    The Maldives tourism industry has observed robust growth over the years since the global pandemic in 2020, with tourist arrivals reaching near pre-pandemic levels last year.

    The Ministry of Tourism earlier announced it aims to attract 2 million annual travelers in 2024; which, if achieved, would set a new all-time high annual arrival record for the country.
