    Tourist arrivals close to 600k, China dominates

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives inch close to 600,000 in annual terms

    The total tourist arrivals as of March 27, 2024 has reached close to hitting the 600,000 arrival mark.

    According to the Ministry of Tourism, total tourist arrivals as of the review date reached 576,952, which is 14.2% up from the same period last year; during which arrivals stood at 505,083.

    China maintains unwavering dominance with over 64,000 arrivals while Russia is inching close to the topper with close to 60,000 arrivals. While Italy started the year as the top source market, it is the third strongest with a little over 54,000 arrivals.

    3. Italy: 54,815
    4. UK: 53,742
    5. Germany: 44,514
    6. India: 33,926
    7. France: 22,539
    8. USA: 19,486
    9. Poland: 13,401
    10. Switzerland: 12,920

    The daily average of arrival is 6,632 in annual terms, with the average duration of stay at 7.9 days.
