According to the Bank of Maldives (BML), the largest banking network in the island nation, its ATM network records a total of MVR 99 million transactions on a daily basis.
The bank shared statistics related to the bank’s ATMs on Monday.
Statistics confirm a daily total of 30,000 transactions of which MVR 28.6 million is deposits. Transactions across other atolls reach a daily average of MVR 41 million with MVR 12.3 million out of this total being deposits – that is 15,000 transactions at a daily capacity for the atolls excluding Greater Male’ region.
The bank is also providing its banking solutions to all residential islands of Dhaalu and Haa Alifu atolls.
As per statistics, the ATM network of Dhaalu atoll alone reported a total transaction of MVR 47 million for the period of February 25 to April 9, 2025, which is 13,000 daily transactions and MVR 10.2 million in deposits.
In the same period, total transactions in Haa Alifu atoll stood at MVR 50 million, which is 21,000 daily transactions, and MVR 15 million in daily deposits.
BML also revealed these figures exclude deposits and withdrawals in foreign currency.
