    UK topples Russia to become second strongest market

    UK topples Russia to become the second strongest tourist market to the Maldives

    According to the Ministry of Tourism, the UK has toppled Russia to become the second strongest tourist market to the Maldives.

    As per the latest updates from the Ministry, total arrivals from UK has reached 66,999 while Russia is following closely behind with 66,803. China continues to dominate the list with over 71,000 arrivals.

    Top 10 Markets

    1. China – 71,995
    2. UK – 66,999
    3. Russia – 66,803
    4. Italy – 61,379
    5. Germany – 52,256
    6. India – 37,417
    7. France – 25,098
    8. USA – 22,983
    9. Switzerland – 16,452
    10. Poland – 14,490

    The total tourist arrivals to the Maldives has reached 663,269 as of April 10, 2024, which is a 13.8% increase compared to the same period last year, during which arrivals stood at 582,640.

    Moreover, tourist arrivals exclusively in April has also observed a positive improvement in comparison to the -5% in arrivals observed during the previous review.
