    Finance Minister attends launching Maldives Development Update by World Bank

    Maldives Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq on Monday, attended the launching ceremony of the Maldives Development Update: Scaling Back & Rebuilding Buffers (May 2024) by the World Bank.

    In his opening remarks, the minister thanked World Bank team for the close collaboration between the ministry and the Bank in compiling the report.

    Minister Shafeeq also said the ambitious fiscal reforms were essential including reform of state-owned enterprises, subsidy reforms, and health expenditure reforms.

    Besides the minister, Deputy Minister of Finance Ahmed Saaid Musthafa participated in the event as panelist in the panel discussion on the way forward for fiscal reforms and health expenditure efficiency.

    The event was also attended by the Advisor to the Minister Ahmed Munavar, Ministers of State for Finance Hussain Sham Adam and Ahmed Mazin and Deputy Ministers of Finance Mohamed Anas and Ahmed Ajwed.
