    Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu departed on an official visit to St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, on Friday to attend to the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

    During the Summit, President Muizzu will deliver the National Statement at the Plenary of the Summit on May 27, 2024.

    Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with a number of foreign dignitaries, and deliver remarks at some of the side events of the Summit. The Maldives head of state is also one of the Vice Presidents of the Conference as well as Co-chair of one of the five interactive dialogues, organized by the UN at the conference.

    The Conference on SIDS is held once a decade, and one of the highlight of the fourth International Conference of SIDS is the adoption of the new Programme of Action, the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS.

    This conference is held under the overarching theme of “Charting the course toward resilient prosperity”.
